I hosted my blog in fatcow for a little over a month now, and I was very impressed with the user-friendly, feature packed control panel and awesome customer service. I recommended fatcow to my friends but with the recent experience I had, I am starting to regret it. Recently, my site had been running slower and slower day by day. Nowadays, it takes over 4 seconds to load. 4 seconds!! are you kidding me? what the heck is going on? I never experienced this kind of slow down even from the free hosts I had in the past. I’m really getting sick of this and I am just throwing my rotten tomatoes right now in faint hope of improving this situation. It’s time to move your fatass, fatcow.

I am up to the point where I can not trust that any outbound email has actually been sent due to their poor performance. I have enough service tracking numbers to support my claims. In fact, today (1/15/2006) they are once again having problems which have disabled my site along with their own. They are nowhere near 99% uptime! Its been a while since I signed up for account with fatcow, and I haven’t been disappointed. I wouldn’t host high traffic e-commerce type of site on shared hosting at all, but for a hobby or a site with low traffic I think it’s perfect. Their plan has all the features for email accounts and domains management, easy word press installation and google webmaster tools integration. I called support couple times regarding my domains transfers – each time it was a pleasant experience and support agents were very helpful. I recommend fatcow to everyone who needs simple reliable solution for web hosting needs.

Please do not sign up with these guys, they are terrible. Their customer service is so awful and one of their technical support agents told me that he would hang up on me, because my case has been sent to management and there is nothing else they can do. I purchased and SSL from these guys and they never sent it to me, and I finally requested a refund that I still don’t have. This all took place withing a 48 hour time from, so I was within their refund policy.

I canceled my Websitesource account last week after 7 or so years of service. I canceled Justhost after 2 days of service. Some fellow Apple users recommended Fatcow, I took the plunge…very happy so far. 1 – For me, the annual cost is a bit more than justhost, and much less than websitesource. 2 – Interfacing with clients via FTP is MUCH easier than with Justhost’s convoluted log-in methods. For someone working in audio/video, ease of use is IMPERATIVE. 3 – Tech support is LIVE and fast. The reps are very nice, ala websitesource’s reps a few years back. Also, the reps actually directly answer your queries unlike justhost, who seem to provide generic, unhelpful answers, and websitesource, who these days try to blame everything on you and/or hackers. 4 – Fatcow’s vibe is much more relaxed than other hosts, and they seem more concerned about helping paying customers. 5 – Within 3 hours of signing up, my site is running in all aspects! So far so good, but time will tell!

Canceling the service will cost you. I was trying to help a non-profit get an affordable site. The template in the demo was perfect to we selected Fat Cow. Then the template turned out to be only for the premium account. That was the only reason we signed up with Fat Cow. Canceling definitely costs you money — certainly wasn’t represented that way when they were selling us their service.. We would’ve stayed with Fat Cow if the support person that dealt with our problem would listen to our request — but argumentative is the only description for that particular support tech. (others were nicer.) Buyer beware — seemed like a lot of bait and switch

I signed up for Fatcow less than two weeks ago because of rave reviews about customer service especially, and in these two weeks I have given up on them. Some support people are offshore, almost always a disaster, and so far not a single question has been answered adequately. This morning I am having trouble uploading files “server not available”. Then today I found the reviews on webhosting-top.com and my heart sank.
I’m gonna stop uploading my sites right now and stay with my present host, whose services I hadn’t cancelled yet, fortunately. Nothing wrong with my present service, they are just pricey. Wonderful support, always (Futurequest.net).

I never noticed any downtime for the website, but one time I was trying to upload/FTP some stuff and they were having issues – no big deal to me on my personal site. I have been trying to look for reasonable hosting and I came to fatcow. The reviews made it seem pretty good but after I started putting my site up it started to get SLOWER AND SLOWER. It took 7+ seconds to load an HTML website. I contacted support and they told me it was something with my website. Now see it was HTML, basic text, simple… and it wasn’t even up for 24 hours!!! Not sure whats going on over there. My best guess is that they have too many people per server but who knows. There billing support tried to catch me for a $30 charge for canceling my account until I told them I had the account for less than 24 hours… I told them this TWICE!!! Maybe they just don’t read the chat box, I dunno. Overall, not happy with them for the 18 hours I had them for. Currently in process of looking for a new host.

We have been a Fatcow customer for at least seven years now and for the last two as they add new features the service becomes more unstable. We are down once again both e-mail and website. This is the third total outage in two months. I just got off the phone with them and they assured me that there is no issue at all. So I guess I’m imaging the page not loading? Go figure. I’m done and moving on to some other company. I can not afford to have our website down for hours on end. Our average unit price if $150K. One missed sale can be devastating. They don’t even offer service credits when there is an issue. Come on! In this economy you better start bending over backwards to please your customers of they, like I, will move on.

If you are someone who has high email traffic DO NOT GO WITH THIS OUTFIT. They were down several times in 3 months I was with them, costing me lost business. And once I was up and running, I would send say 50 emails out of outlook–all of them “sent” acdng to my record–and CONSISTENTLY 5-10 out of those 50 would not make their destination… no error message, no warning. I was on the phone w/them for hours and they admitted the problem was definitely their server, and they tried to fix it 3 times. CAN YOU REALLY LIVE with sending a bunch of emails, and guaranteed 20% of them are not going to be delivered… WORSE, you won’t know which ones are not going to make it? Think about that. I’m shocked these people get high ratings… IT’S PROBABLY BECAUSE MOST OF THE UNDELIVERED EMAILS GO UNDETECTED, I just happen to own a communications-based business, and I hear of the undelivered emails every day. Their free website development software does not allow you to update your site. (It is static) People who log onto your site will always see the same page they first saw unless they clear their cache, so adding time sensitive content is useless. I had to figure this out myself because the tech people had no clue. The FatCow site was difficult to navigate around. The help section answers were about two sentences long and very vague. I called tech support and they couldn’t answer some basic questions. While I was on hold, I looked up my question on Wikipedia and got more info there than I did from the Moo Team. They never could solve my website problem and when I calmly but matter of factly told the tech support person that I was dissatisfied and would not recommend them to anyone he sarcastically replied, “I guess that’s why we’re#1!” What does that even mean? I spoke with his manager but was not offered any sort of refund of my money for my non-functioning website.

I am disgusted with the performance of this host. I transferred sites from Godaddy hosting and godaddy beat the load times hands down without a doubt. Blank installs on Joomla CMS would take between 10-15 seconds for the admin panel to display and even longer for the front page. 30 day trial is charged with a $15 fee for the free domain credit if you use it. I canceled my account before the 30days was up.

I signed up with Fat Cow after reading a list of stellar reviews, and after a long chat with one of their sales reps. Their price was very reasonable (although they require a year subscription and charge a $35.00 fee to leave, unless on the one-day anniversary of sign-up). Their cow theme is cute and friendly. “Moo Crew”, etc. Also they offered a full 30 day money-back guarantee. However I was immediately turned off on my first day by their incredibly backlogged/slow support. After waiting almost 30 minutes to get a tech I asked if this was ‘usual fare’ and didn’t get a straight answer. This would be maddening for me just setting up! I then surfed the site a bit and found ‘Premium’ Support users paying $30 a month extra are continually bumped ahead in the support line. Got ahold of Sales to cancel for refund and waited *another* 20+ minutes, so almost an hour total just on the first question. Was told it will be 7-10 days to get my money back, although they TOOK it in 3m!

I’m a new customer at Fatcow and from the start their delivery of my website has been super slow. Yesterday my websites all went down and they have been down for hours. Their excuse was that they ran out of room on the server my site is on. I hardly even have any files since I’m a new customer (less than 1 GB) and they ran out of room! Their customer service on the phone sounds drugged and they are completely unhelpful. They tagged my complaints “resolved” even though nothing is resolved. My sites are still down. Nothing works and they are no help at all on the phone. I give Fatcow a big fat F for service and support. Don’t bother with them.

One of their features was a money back guarantee. When we tried to get our money back they started charging us for what they were saying was a free service to begin with. Apparently they have the cost of same calculated in the monthly fee so if you stop early they wont give you all your money back. FATCOW is slow. I am not sure what possessed me to sign up for something that has a big, fat logo. It must be my mistake. They are slow, their c/s is not knowledgeable and the crashed my website and deleted my SQL database and had no backup. And it goes downhill from there. I then signed up for a company to replace them – iPower – found out it was a sister company that shares the customer support desk with FATCOW! Boy am I having a wrotten day!

I inquired about “Fat Cow” and asked them how much space I REALLY get – it’s not actually unlimited. There is a stopping point if you upload too much to your site, etc but they refused to tell me and just continued to say it was all unlimited. I then found another web hosting company that has unlimited and when I asked them, they showed me the limits on each domain and what happens if you upload too much.

I had been a FatCow customer for years, using the site occasionally as a backup for an academic site I have. I left after several years a satisfied customer, I just wasn’t using it anymore. This summer I wanted to try Moodle, which FatCow offers. Unfortunately, they will only auto-install version 1.5 and it’s now up to 1.9.5. I installed new version myself, then needed to schedule a cron job. Tech support ticket and interactive support both say “no can do.” Grumpy after 52 minutes of typing in circles, I contact billing on the phone to cancel the account. In 10 minutes they have new functionality added to my control panel, very nice cron scheduling software that is easy to use. Why couldn’t tech support have done the same thing without the 52 minute runaround?

My site was down for 2 days, when I called to ask why, they simply said “server issues” They were then down again for 12 hours the next week. To top it off, they DOUBLE CHARGED my card for no reason which they said was a bug in their billing system which happened to all customers not just me!!! So basically they are saying this happened to everyone, NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Great price and a lot of great features, but this host is like having a shiny classic car without an engine–it looks good, but it doesn’t work. I have continued downtime problems and issues on both the front and back end of the site. I run a simple blog and sometimes the site doesn’t load for five minutes before getting some sort of time out error. On the backend, you might be taking hours to do a half hour of work due to the horrible loading times. You’d be better off going elsewhere.

Hopefully, if you sign up for Fatcow, you don’t have a MySQL application. In the past 30 days, their Database servers have been down 3 times, for 4-5 hours at a time. Hardly 3 9’s. So, if it doesn’t cost you money to have downtime (Just a personal blog or website) then you should be ok. If you are expecting reliable uptime, skip on FatCow and keep looking. Tech Support is generally friendly, but clueless, unless maybe you get to Tier II. However, I can never pass Tier I, and when I called today, I was told “Yep, I can replicate your issue” then two minutes later, “Sir, I don’t see a problem with your site”. Sales dept. is good, but that’s it.

This provider has really started to suck ever since they were sold in June of 2005. I have fallen victim to constant outages with both web hosting and email handling. I am up to the point where I can’t trust that any outbound email has actually been sent due to their poor performance. I have enough service tracking numbers to support my claims. They are nowhere near 99% uptime! I would save your money and find another web host. I plan on switching service to a new provider as soon as my contract with them is up.

fatcow doesn’t have much to offer and even tough their price is low the service isn’t great.
I had some problems with customer Service along the way but in average they are ok.
Before I buy their plan I read some reviews on the internet and some people complaint about their email service. In my case it wasn’t a problem because I use aweber(best email service in the market).
If you won’t overload the servers with scripts and busy forums you should give it a try and see what happen.

If you expect competent customer service, look elsewhere. The sign- up page is not user friendly and if you are not careful, will create an account for you even if you do not complete the form. If this happens, good luck getting help to delete the account. I was told by FatCow support that they would delete the invalid account. However, not only did they not delete it, but charged my credit card the full yearly hosting amount. When I disputed the charge with my bank, I received a rude email from FatCow saying that they don’t allow chargebacks and as such, they were “suspending” my account. So, they don’t delete an invalid account at the customer’s request, but then threaten to suspend said account anyway? Total incompetence. Also, their LIVE chat representatives struggle with a language barrier and I was forced to repeat my requests. In all, the cheap price was not worth the headaches I had in dealing with this company. Beware.
